Our Story
The story of proDiscgolf.cz began in 2005, when Přemysl Novák and Michal Grepl spent their summer vacation in Colorado, USA. They worked as waiters in a hotel restaurant and also as bicycle tour guides. Just when their 3 month holiday job came to an end, the restaurant manager asked them a very important question.
Hey guys, would you like to play disc golf?
For sure! What is it? They said. And then threw and threw. The first course they played was Edora Park and they fell in love with the sport immediately. We should make it popular in the Czech Republic! Přemysl thought. And he tried as much as he could, he brought some discs from the US, ordered some home made baskets in the Czech Republic but it nothing seemed to work. He thought he will never be able to build a disc golf course with such a high price tag. He stopped thinking about it for a while...
Couple years later in 2010, he found out that there is a company in Finland, which manufactures disc golf baskets and imports disc golf equipment from the USA. DiscGolfPark or something like that. In a blink of an eye he had a Skype with its owner, sat in a car (which he borrowed from his mother) and went to Finland. In 2011 he build the first 4 permanent courses and founded the proDG.cz online store with a selection of discs from Innova and Discmania. He also brought Michal along to help selling disc golf courses and hired his brother Kryštof to run the online store.
The number of courses grew rapidly and we changed the name of our company to proDiscgolf.cz 2014, hired Vendulka just a few years later and Peca a year after that. There were more and more disc golfers and disc golf tournaments.
In 2019 there is more than a hundred of disc golf courses and we made the next big step - started selling other brands of disc golf equipment and translated our online store to English, so the whole Europe can see what we have to offer...
Our story does not end here, we are just starting.
